The CTC (Cyclists Touring Club) was founded in 1878 in Harrogate, North Yorkshire and in Norfolk in 1930. There are now more than 200 CTC member groups across the UK.

The CTC's vision is of a healthier, happier and cleaner world because more people cycle. In 2016 the CTC was rebranded as Cycling UK

As a  Cycling UK member, you can ride with any Cycling UK group. Members enjoy other benefits such as Third Party Insurance and discounts from many stores.

In February 1987 the West Norfolk section was started to serve members living in the west of the
County and in April 2002 the Diss section followed to serve those in the south of the County.

Membership numbers in Norfolk currently stand at around 900.

The West Norfolk CTC is a friendly group of cyclists who enjoy weekly rides of varying lengths to all parts of Norfolk (we know where all the best cafes are).

The rides are planned and a list is published three months in advance. This tells you at which cafe we will meet. You can make your own way there or arrange to ride with other group members. After coffee and cakes we ride to a lunch stop and then make our way home.

From King's Lynn there are usually about ten riders leave for the cafe, where we can meet up to
twenty more who have ridden from different parts of Norfolk.

We always ride at the pace of the slowest rider, so never leave anyone behind. There is a great
camaraderie amongst us and we always help each other out no matter what the problem.

In addition to the planned rides, many members use this opportunity to organise their own rides
locally, take part in other events or join other groups all around the country.

Cycling is a great way to exercise, improve mental health and well-being, make new friends and
meet like-minded individuals and enjoy a social, fun and entertaining day's cycling. What better way to see the countryside around you than riding with friends!
